Opera for Calarts 50th

"Here Be Sirens" is a contemporary opera composed by Kate Soper.

It explores the mythological theme of sirens – the seductive creatures of Greek mythology whose enchanting songs lured sailors to their demise.

Synopsis: The opera is its exploration of the relationship between the sirens and their audience. Rather than simply portraying the sirens as malevolent beings, Soper delves into their inner thoughts and emotions, humanizing them in a way that challenges traditional portrayals of mythological figures.
