Far Away

HOW DO WE PROTECT OURSELF FROM WAR?

WE HIDE?
Carol Churchill's "Far Away" presents a dystopian future where humanity and nature are at war, instilling a pervasive sense of distrust and fear. As I designed this play, I considered the historical backdrop, protective measures, probing into questions about safety, burial, and the undergound.

I initiated my exploration by contemplating:
What is the experience of undergoing, What sensations accompany it? How does the lighting shift? How does the atmosphere transform?

What is the experience of going above ground, What sensations accompany it? How does the lighting shift? How does the atmosphere transform?

I wanted to merge playful exploration, reminiscent of childlike wonder and curiosity, with the secrets that the characters aunt and uncle conceal.

Rooftops captivated me as they symbolize both a gateway to innocent fascination and a reflection of the broader world.
